Job Summary
The Manager – Final Expense will lead the planning, execution, and overall performance of the Final Expense project/department. This role owns end-to-end delivery — driving strategy, team performance, and stakeholder management — while ensuring targets are met on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Manager will oversee Assistant Project Managers and team leads, and will be accountable for the overall health and growth of the Final Expense book of business.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the strategic planning, execution, and performance of the Final Expense project/department
- Set goals, KPIs, and targets for the team and monitor performance against them
- Lead, mentor, and develop Assistant Project Managers, Team Leads, and closers to help them achieve individual and team goals
- Coordinate with senior leadership, internal departments, and external stakeholders/carriers
- Review project plans, schedules, and deliverables prepared by direct reports
- Analyze performance data and prepare executive-level status reports and business reviews
- Identify risks, bottlenecks, and process gaps; drive corrective action and continuous improvement
- Manage budgets, resource allocation, and staffing plans for the department
- Ensure compliance with company standards, carrier requirements, and industry regulations
- Drive hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives for the Final Expense team
- Escalate and resolve high-impact issues that cannot be handled at the Assistant PM level
Requirements (skills and qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in Final Expense, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership/managerial capacity
- Proven track record of managing closers/teams and hitting production targets in Final Expense
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people-management skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, CRM, and project management tools
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable decisions
- PMP/CAPM certification is a plus
